| Biography | Teresa E. Morton is a partner in the Indianapolis office and a member of the Corporate Deparment. She is also co-chair of the firm's Energy, Telecommunications and Utilities Practice Group. Her practice concentrates on the energy, telecommunications and video/cable industries. She also works with consumers in the negotiation of customer specific contracts and related matters; with developers, property owners and universities; and with woman and minority owned businesses and professionals. Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Morton worked for more than four years in the radio broadcasting and communications industry. Drawing on this experience, Ms. Morton works with clients regarding crisis communications, media interviews and cross-examination for hearings. She is recognized in Best Lawyers in America in the categories of Energy Law and Telecommunications, in Indiana Super Lawyers and in 2009 Super Lawyers Corporate Counsel Edition in the area of Energy and Natural Resources. Ms. Morton's practice includes litigation, transactional, legislation and appellate work, extending to public utility regulation, access to public records, competition, construction of new facilities, customer specific contracts, alternative regulation and deregulation, energy efficiency and demand side management, Energy Policy Act, environmental compliance, excess earnings, fair value, Federal Communications Commission matters, fuel cost adjustments, home run and inside wiring, video and cable franchising, interconnection, Internet, licensing, mergers and acquisitions, Over-the-Air Reception Devices such as antennas and satellite dishes, CALEA, cable contracts, nuclear energy, pole attachments, protection of confidential information, ratemaking, regional transmission organizations, renewables, reverse rate cases, Smart Grid, tariff changes, the Telecommunications Act of 1996, and other regulatory matters. Ms. Morton has chaired the firm's Client and Community Relations and Diversity Committees; she also served on the Recruiting Committee. In 2007, Ms. Morton was profiled in MultiCultural Law Magazine as a supporter of law firm diversity. Ms. Morton is actively involved with numerous community organizations, including the Indianapolis Chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO). She serves on the Indianapolis Woman advisory board and the International Violin Competition of Indianapolis board. She is also a member of the United Way of Central Indiana Tocqueville Society and Women's Initiative, and is a member of the West Liberty State College President's Club. She has also served on the boards of the Central Indiana Women's Fund and the Eiteljorg Museum and has been involved with numerous other community organizations, including Daughters of the American Revolution. She is a former chair of the Utility Law Section of the Indiana State Bar Association (ISBA), and continues to work with this organization in other roles. She has served on the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission's Practice and Procedures Committee and on the Indiana State Bar Association's Certification of Specialties Committee. Throughout her career she has written and spoken on regulatory issues as well as on communications, diversity and law firm marketing.
