BiographyTerrence M. Caudeiron principally practices in the areas of civil litigation with particular focus on personal injury, trusts, probate, wills and divorce, working on both contentious and non-contentious matters.
Apart from her work as litigator, Terry undertakes a large proportion of the firm's legal research and opinion writing in all areas of law in which the firm practices. Since joining the firm in 2005, Terry has been involved in most of the cases carried by the firm.
Prior to joining Broadhurst LLC, Terry clerked for the judges of the Grand Court and remained appointed after her Articles as the Research Analyst to the Judges of the Grand Court, providing support services in the form of legal research and precedent management. She was the Clerk for the Juvenile Court providing legal advice to the Justices of the Peace. She also assisted the Rules Committee of the Grand Court and was involved in the codifying of the undefended divorce provision of the Matrimonial Causes (Amendment) Rules, 2001. She served on the Grand Court Working Rules Committee. In 2005 she presented the First Michael Hill Memorial Lecture at the International Society for the Reform of Criminal Law in Montreal on behalf of the Chief Justice of the Cayman Islands.
Terry initiated and still maintains the Sentencing Guidelines on behalf of the Grand Court.
While still at law school Terry produced a research paper which ultimately led to the reform of the law as it affects children born out of wedlock with respect to inheritance known as the Status of Children Law (2003 Revision).
Terry received her Bachelor of Arts Degree with Honours (1977) and her postgraduate Diploma in Management Studies (1984) from the University of the West Indies. In 1999 she received her Bachelor of Laws Degree (with Honours) from the University of Liverpool and her PPC Diploma (University of Belfast) in 2000 with commendation. In 2002 she was admitted to the Bar of the Cayman Islands. She is a member of the Caymanian Bar Association and the International Society for the Reform of Criminal Law.
