Biography

Tom Curtin, an associate in Cadwalader's New York office, focuses his practice in the areas of bankruptcy litigation, distressed municipal finance, and financial restructuring. He has represented creditors, investors, and interested parties in chapter 9 and 11 cases, as well as in out of court restructurings. Tom has recently represented creditors in the restructurings of the City of Detroit, Jefferson County, Edison Mission Energy, Dynegy Holdings LLC, and Inner City Media Corporation, among others. Tom is also advising a monoline insurer in the potential restructuring of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico and its public agencies. Tom has been recognized as a key individual in the 2014 US edition of Legal500.

He is a frequent author on a variety of restructuring topicsand his work has been published in the New York Law Journal, Law 360, The Journal of Law & Policy, and Pratt's Journal of Bankruptcy Law.

Tom received his B.A., cum laude, from Fordham University and his J.D., cum laude, from Brooklyn Law School, where he was a Notes and Comments Editor on the Journal of Law and Policy. During law school, Tom received CALI Excellence for Future Awards for achieving the highest grades in multiple classes, including his Civil Procedure class.

He is admitted to practice in the State of New York and before the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York.
