Tom Macdonald is a partner at Goodmans. He specializes in commercial real estate and property development law, banking and secured lending and environmental law.

His practice focuses on commercial real estate and he has developed a solid expertise handling the structuring and land acquisition aspects of high-profile acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures and syndications including expertise in the acquisition, disposition, financing of hotel and resort developments and the integration thereof in other mixed use developments. His practice includes financing of real estate, having completed complex, secured lending transactions for both lenders and borrowers. He has experience in land development, construction loans, bond financings, as well as in traditional mortgage financings. Tom has developed a particular expertise in the 'work out' area activity for lenders in the restructuring of problem loans.

Tom heads the firm's interdisciplinary environmental law practice group, and he has a particular strength in transactions involving contaminated or potentially contaminated real estate.

Tom has been a partner with Goodmans since 1987.
