Thomas Royall Smith is a Shareholder in the Florida and Boston offices of Jackson Lewis P.C.
Mr. Smith has practiced Labor and Employment law for over thirty years. He has served as outside counsel to some of the nation's largest employers on workplace issues. He has practiced extensively before the National Labor Relations Board, tried many arbitration cases and has negotiated numerous collective bargaining agreements for employers. Mr. Smith is a former instructor of labor relations at Fairfield University in Connecticut and frequently writes and speaks on labor and employment law topics. He also provides training on workplace law topics to employers in many industries.
Mr. Smith is rated AV Preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell and has been selected as a Super Lawyer and one of the best lawyers in his field by legal publications.
After serving in the Judge Advocate Generals' Corp where he practiced labor and employment law, Mr. Smith practiced labor and employment law in Connecticut from 1974 through 1979 and was formerly a partner in a Connecticut firm. He has been a partner in Jackson Lewis for over 25 years and served as Managing Partner of the Boston office of the firm for over seventeen years. He also assisted with the management of the firm's Hartford and Chicago offices and served five years as a member of the firm's management committee.
Mr. Smith is a member of the Bars of Florida and Massachusetts. He is admitted to several District Courts and Courts of Appeals including the federal courts in Rhode Island, Maryland, Connecticut, Massachusetts and the First and Second Circuit Courts of Appeal. He is a member of the American Bar Association's Labor and Employment Law Section where he is active on the Practice and Procedure before the National Labor Relations Board subcommittee.
Mr. Smith received his A.B. from Lafayette College in 1967 and earned his J.D. from Boston University in 1970. He went on to earn his M.L.A. from Johns Hopkins University in 1975.
