Timothy A. Hodge, Jr. serves as a trusted business advisor and outside general counsel to a diverse group of corporate clients - from start-up and emerging technology businesses to long established companies - on general corporate matters; acquisition, disposition and financing strategies and transactions; intellectual property issues; and business disputes. Mr. Hodge brings a considerable amount of business and in-house counsel experience, including in the areas of general problem solving and strategic business counseling, IP protection and enforcement and equity financing to his clients' businesses. As Chief Legal Officer for Baltimore-based 180s, Inc., a maker of innovative outdoor gear and accessories (including a popular behind-the-head™ ear warmer), he developed and successfully implemented a global strategy to protect its patented products from infringers, including three multi-billion dollar companies. He led several equity and debt financings that helped fuel 180s growth to a ninth place ranking on INC. Magazine's list of the fastest growing private U.S. companies in 2003. He also was a member of and advisor to the executive leadership team. Mr. Hodge has represented publicly-traded and privately-held companies in trials and arbitrations involving complex disputes. In Curtis G. Testerman Co. v. Walter F. Buck, III, 340 Md. 569, 667 A.2d 649 (1995), a case of first impression in Maryland, he successfully argued before Maryland's Court of Appeals that the president of a company could not be personally compelled into arbitration with his company, unless he agreed by contract or consented to arbitrate the claim against him. He also has testified and represented clients before local and state legislative and regulatory bodies. With his combination of business law, in-house counsel and litigation experience, Mr. Hodge is uniquely qualified to provide strategic legal advice and efficiently manage legal matters, from the simplest to the most complex, for corporations. He graduated from Washington & Lee University School of Law, where he was a lead articles editor for the Washington & Lee Law Review. He earned a bachelor's degree from Duke University.
