| Biography | Timothy J. Fazio is an associate at Cooley Manion Jones. Tim maintains a diverse practice, concentrating in complex commercial litigation. Tim has experience representing clients involved in government investigations, federal and state False Claims Act cases, contract disputes, compliance with state higher education regulations, patent and copyright disputes, commercial real estate disputes, Chapter 93A cases, environmental litigation, mass torts, insurance cases involving coverage disputes and direct lawsuits against insurers, and serving as local counsel on behalf of financial institutions in securities litigation. Tim also has significant experience with a variety of settlement mechanisms, including formal arbitration proceedings and court-assisted mediation programs. Tim serves on the e-discovery committee for Cooley Manion Jones and has significant experience advising clients on e-discovery best practices, including legal holds, data preservation, and data production, working with e-discovery vendors and consultants, and managing e-discovery in anticipation of, during, and after litigation. Tim regularly contributes to Federal Civil Litigation In The First Circuit, Chapter 3: Discovery with Judge Joyce London Alexander (the 2011 version exploring the impact of recent amendments to the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure regarding electronic discovery). Immediately prior to joining Cooley Manion Jones in 2008, Tim served for two years as the Law Clerk to United States Magistrate Judge Joyce London Alexander in the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts. While with Judge Alexander, Tim performed extensive work on a variety of civil and criminal cases before the Court. Before clerking, Tim practiced in the commercial litigation department of Holland & Knight LLP's New York office where, in addition to work described above, he performed extensive pro-bono work representing indigent clients in family law, real property evictions and social security benefit cases. Tim is admitted to practice in the state and federal courts of Massachusetts and Connecticut, the state courts of New York and the federal Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, the First, Second, and Third Circuit Courts of Appeal, and the Supreme Court of the United States. Tim graduated from Hamilton College in 1999 (History Major), graduated from Hofstra University's School of Law (Law Review) in 2002, and graduated from Hofstra University's Zarb School of Business in 2003 (Finance Degree).
