Mr. Clarke's practice focuses primarily on tax litigation and tax representational work. He acts in various courts for individuals, trusts and corporations of all sizes in federal and provincial income and commodity tax and GST/HST matters, and clients undergoing CRA audits and investigations and making voluntary disclosures. He also acts in tax-related professional negligence matters.
He has been a regular lecturer and speaker in business and taxation law at the British Columbia Institute of Technology and for the Certified General Accountants' Association of British Columbia and at conferences sponsored by the Canadian Tax Foundation (CTF). He served on the program committee for the CTF's British Columbia Tax Conference in 2010 and 2011 and currently serves as a Governor of the CTF and the Foundation's tax conferences committee. Prior to joining Bull Housser, Mr. Clarke was a tax litigator with the Federal Department of Justice in Vancouver.
Having obtained bachelor's and master's degrees in economics, he was employed as a macroeconomic modeller at the University of British Columbia before attending law school. In a previous life he pitched for the Washington State Cougars and in the Chicago Cubs organization.

Representative Work Highlights
• Having focused his practice on tax litigation for over 22 years, Mr. Clarke presently represents several individual, trust and corporate clients appealing reassessments issued under the federal and provincial general anti avoidance rule (GAAR), net worth assessments, assessments for shareholder appropriations and benefits and tax penalties (among others) and individuals contesting tax prosecutions.
