Tracy D. Knox is a partner in Barnes & Thornburg LLP's South Bend, Indiana office. He practices in the Litigation Department and handles product liability, commercial and general litigation matters as well as white collar criminal defense matters. He is a vice chairperson of the firm's Construction Law Practice Group. Mr. Knox received a B.S. in international affairs in 1984 from the United States Military Academy at West Point. In 1991, he was awarded his J.D. by Notre Dame Law School, graduating summa cum laude. He served on the Notre Dame Law Review and was awarded the Dean Joseph O'Meara Award for outstanding academic achievement. After graduation, Mr. Knox resumed active military service with the U.S. Army's Judge Advocate General's Corps as a paratrooper at Fort Bragg, N.C. While at Fort Bragg, he gained litigation experience prosecuting military courts-martial and, as a special assistant U.S. attorney, prosecuting felony offenses in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina. Following his military service, Mr. Knox practiced with a Detroit, Mich., product liability litigation firm before joining Barnes & Thornburg in 1995. He is admitted to practice in Indiana (1991) and Michigan (1994) as well as in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Indiana. He is also admitted to practice before the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the 7th and 4th Circuits. Mr. Knox is active in the business community, serving as an adjunct member of the faculty of the Mendoza College of Business, University of Notre Dame, where he teaches Business Law. He is also a frequent lecturer on legal topics before local construction industry trade organizations. Mr. Knox coauthored "Hodgson and Akron II: The Supreme Court's New Standard for Minor's Abortion Statutes," 66 Notre Dame L. Rev. 527 (1990). |
