Trent is an Director with the Pittsburgh office of Strassburger McKenna Gutnick & Gefsky. His practice extends to all types of litigation matters, including commercial disputes, oil and gas disputes, civil rights cases, personal injury cases, and employment matters. Trent has extensive experience with the federal court system. Before joining Strassburger McKenna Gutnick & Gefsky, he served for several years as a judicial law clerk in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio.
Before joining Strassburger McKenna Gutnick & Gefsky, Trent served as a federal judicial law clerk. In that role, Trent assisted with a broad range of civil cases that are litigated in federal courts. These matters routinely included commercial disputes and civil rights cases.
In private practice, Trent has drawn upon his experience to represent individuals and businesses in complex civil matters, including:
• contract disputes
• covenants not to compete
• misappropriation of trade secrets
• defamation and slander
• personal injury and wrongful death actions
• police brutality and other civil rights violations
Oil and Gas Practice
In addition to civil litigation, Trent represents landowners and commercial enterprises in a variety of Oil and Gas matters. Trent regularly assists clients with:
• negotiating all types of leases and contracts
• negotiating lease surrenders
• analyzing royalty payments
• resolving surface use disputes
• resolving lease disputes
• resolving title disputes
With licenses to practice law in Pennsylvania, Ohio, and West Virginia, Trent is able to handle matters in many regions of the Appalachian Basin.
Trent graduated with honors from Carnegie Mellon University, earning bachelor’s degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Biomedical Engineering. He went on to work as an engineer for Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory before earning a law degree from Case Western Reserve University. Following law school, Trent served as a judicial law clerk in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio.
Trent was raised in Mount Pleasant, Pennsylvania, and he has always enjoyed the outdoors. He is a member of the Federal Bar Association, the Allegheny County Bar Association, the Westmoreland County Bar Association, the Amy Reynolds Hay Chapter of the American Inns of Court, and the Ned J. Nakles Chapter of the American Inns of Court.
