About this office:
H.C.A. van Benthem began as a sole practitioner in 1940 and was later joined by F.B. Keulen in 1946 to form the firm Van Benthem & Keulen. The firm has consciously restricted its growth in order to maintain its tradition of personal service and collegiality.
While the firm originally had a general practice geared toward private individuals, the focus has shifted increasingly toward businesses and governmental entities now served by nine sections, each specialized in a particular area of the law.
The firm has historically strong ties to the region of Utrecht, acting as counsel to both the city and the province of Utrecht. On a national level, the firm also enjoys renown for its insolvency practice, as a result of the appointment of A.L. Leuftink and C. de Jong as receiver or trustee in several highly-publicized bankruptcies and reorganizations. In the international arena, the inclusion of A. van der Schee (Rechtsanwaltin) further broadens the firm's horizons.
Van Benthem & Keulen has expertise in all principal areas of Dutch law. In addition to the categories of work stated above, Van Benthem & Keulen also has expertise in the fields of venture capital work, commercial litigation, arbitration/mediation, EC competition law and landlord/tenant law.
General Civil Practice, Corporate, Labour, Health Care, Real Estate and Administrative, Insolvency, Intellectual Property, Insurance and Liability, Landlord/Tenant, EC Antitrust, Family, Transport.
