Vanessa Grant is a business law partner in the firm's Toronto office. Her practice focuses on corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, and private equity. Ms. Grant advises issuers, investors, and underwriters on matters including public and private financings (including venture capital financing), initial public offerings, public and private mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, and joint ventures. She also provides ongoing general corporate and commercial legal advice to a number of clients. Ms. Grant works with national and international clients in various industries, with a particular focus on life sciences companies, including biotechnology, diagnostic, and medical device companies. Ms. Grant's recent experience includes: · counsel to the special committee of Charter Real Estate Investment Trust; · counsel to Avaya in its acquisition of the Nortel telephony enterprise solutions business; · counsel to Goldman Sachs Partners in connection with the sale of its interest in CanWest Media Inc. to Shaw Communications Inc.; · counsel to SemBioSys Genetics Inc. in connection with its financings; and · counsel to Draxis Health Inc. in connection with its sale to Jubilant Organosys Inc. Ms. Grant appears in the Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory as a leading practitioner in the areas of private equity, technology transactions, and biotechnology. Ms. Grant is currently Co-Director of the Osgoode Hall part-time LL.M. in Business Law, and teaches securities regulation at the Faculty of Law, Queen's University (Kingston). Ms. Grant is a member of the Board of Directors of the Earlscourt-Créche Child Development Institute (Chair of its Corporate Governance Committee) and Summerworks Theatre Festival. Ms. Grant received her B.Mus. in 1992 and her BA in 1996, both from the University of Toronto. She received her LLB from Queen's University in 1995. Ms. Grant was called to the Ontario bar in 1997. |
