Ben practices in the firm's Business section in the Real Estate Group. He focuses on commercial real estate transactions, with an emphasis in industrial and shopping center site acquisition and development and in industrial, office, shopping center, and health care leasing. Formerly in the wine business, he also advises clients on issues involving the Alabama Beverage Control Board. Ben served as Chair of the Retail Leasing Committee of the Real Property, Probate and Trust Section of the American Bar Association. He is an Associate Member of the International Council of Shopping Centers and a member of the Alabama State Bar and the Birmingham Bar Association. He is listed in The Best Lawyers in America in the Real Estate Law category and as a "Top Attorney" in Commercial Real Estate by Birmingham Magazine. In addition, Ben has been selected by Alabama Super Lawyers from 2008 to 2011. Ben received his B.A. in 1975 from Tulane University and his J.D., cum laude, in 1986 from Cumberland School of Law, where he was Editor-in-Chief of the Cumberland Law Review. He was admitted to the Alabama Bar in 1986. Ben in the community Ben is on the Board of Directors of the Birmingham Chamber Music Society and is immediate Past President. In his spare time he enjoys gardening, and has just started keeping a few beehives.
