Practice/Industry Group Overview
Our Health Care Practice Group serves health care providers. These clients experience a continuous increase in the number and complexity of regulatory obligations with which they must comply—with no relief in sight. The attorneys in this group understand that our clients rely on us to assist them through the regulatory quagmire so they can concentrate their efforts on what they do best: providing quality health care services and products. Our attorneys are committed to staying informed about the latest developments in the law and in the business operations of our clients to enable us to anticipate and quickly respond to our clients' needs. Among these attorneys are one who, since 1987, has been included in the publication The Best Lawyers in America, one who, since 2002, has been selected as "Legal Elite" by Business North Carolina; and one who, since 2006, has been recognized in "Super Lawyers" by North Carolina Super Lawyers.
Our attorneys routinely deal with the regulatory agencies that oversee our clients, including the North Carolina Medical Board, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (formerly the Health Care Financing Administration), and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Office of Inspector General and Office of Civil Rights. We appear in administrative hearings before the North Carolina Medical Board, which has the authority to sanction physicians, and in negotiations with and hearings before the North Carolina Certificate of Need Section.
