Wayne W. Hansen is a Shareholder in the Seattle, Washington office of Jackson Lewis P.C.
Mr. Hansen handles labor and employment matters, including labor negotiations, employment counseling, and employment litigation defense, for a wide variety of Pacific Northwest and national companies. His litigation experience includes representation of employers before state and federal courts in Washington, Oregon and Alaska, as well as state and federal administrative agencies.
Mr. Hansen has had extensive experience over the past 30 years in all phases of traditional labor law, including: representation of cases and unfair labor practice hearings before the National Labor Relations Board; representation of management in NLRB election campaigns; arbitration of grievances under Collective Bargaining Agreements; and negotiating Agreements with all major unions, including the Teamsters, Hotel Employees, Restaurant Employees, the International Association of Machinists, United Food and Commercial Workers, Operating Engineers, Carpenters, Tailors, and others. He has advised employers during negotiations in a wide variety of industries, including retail, food distribution, health care, utility, and agriculture. He represented the employers in two highly visible decertification election campaigns, involving high-profile companies.
Mr. Hansen's recent negotiating experience includes representing seven maintenance contractors in Seattle in negotiations with the SEIU for a new Collective Bargaining Agreement, and acting as a chief negotiator for a large public university in Washington in negotiating the first faculty Collective Bargaining Agreement. In addition, Mr. Hansen's recent NLRB case experience includes a seven-week unfair labor practice trial, an "R" case hearing, during which a Teamsters organizing drive in Fairbanks, Alaska ended, and a unit clarification hearing, which resulted in dismissal of an attempt by the Teamsters to add three newly created positions to a warehouse unit in Portland, Oregon.
Mr. Hansen worked for three years as an attorney with the National Labor Relations Board, was in private practice in Wisconsin, and just prior to joining Jackson Lewis, was a partner in a large Seattle law firm.
Mr. Hansen was a Past Member of the following organizations; Mercer Island Children's Choir - Board President; Mercer Island Schools Foundation - Treasurer; Fiscal Committee, Mercer Island School Board - Chair; Mercer Island Covenant Church - Board Chair; PRIMM ABC Child Care Board; Executive Committee, Evangelical Covenant Church North Pacific Conference - Chair; New Horizons - Board Member. He is a Current Member of the City University Board of Governors - Secretary.
He is admitted to practice law before The Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals; The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals; the United States District Court, Eastern District of Washington; and the United States District Court, Western District of Washington.
Mr. Hansen is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin (BBA, 1965); and of the University of Wisconsin Law School (J.D., 1967).
