Webber & Thies, P.C. is a full service law firm which has been providing high quality service to its clients for more than sixty years. The lawyers and staff in our firm are committed to understanding and cost-effectively meeting our client's needs in a manner consistent with their objectives. The law firm was founded in 1946 by former County Judge Charles M. Webber, and concentrates its practice on serving the total legal needs of corporate and individual clients throughout the State of Illinois and elsewhere.

While we are based in Champaign-Urbana, Illinois (the home of the University of Illinois), we routinely handle matters in counties around the state, frequently as co-counsel or local counsel for other firms.

Our lawyers are held in high regard by members of the legal profession, including state and federal judiciary. Richard Thies is a past president of the Illinois State Bar Association (one of the largest voluntary state bar associations in the United States). He has also served on the Board of Governors of the American Bar Association ("ABA"), chaired the Fellows of the American Bar Foundation and served as State Delegate to the ABA House of Delegates (among other significant state and national offices).

Other members of our firm have also held high positions in state and federal bar associations and have served as university faculty. For example Carl Webber is a past Adjunct Professor of Real Estate Law at the University of Illinois, has also lectured in the area of environmental law and has been a member of the University of Illinois College of Law's Board of Visitors for twenty-seven years. John Thies is a past secretary and treasurer of the Illinois State Bar Association and currently serves as vice president of the Bar Association for the Central and Southern Districts of Illinois.

Among other things, our firm's lawyers have been leaders in bar initiatives concerning minority and women's issues, including: David Thies' service on a task force on gender bias in the courts and John Thies' service on a state bar association committee on Women and the Law. During Dick Thies' year as president of the Illinois State Bar Association, he created a standing committee on Minority and Women Participation which remains an active voice in empowering women and minorities in the legal profession.

Members of our firm have also received gubernatorial and state supreme court appointments, and served on boards and committees devoted to supporting legal assistance to the poor. We also have a long history of service to not-for-profit community activities.
