Bill served as the firm's Managing Partner for many years and practices in the Litigation section. He focuses on commercial and business litigation but handles a variety of cases, including product liability, tobacco cases, toxic tort litigation, ERISA cases, FELA defense and representation of many self-insureds. Bill has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America in the Business/Litigation Law category since the publication's inception. Bill is a member of the American Bar Association serving in its House of Delegates for ten years. He is also a member of the ABA's Litigation Section and American Bar Foundation. In the Alabama State Bar, he has served on the President's Advisory Council and the Medical Tort Reform Committee and has been a member of the Special Task Force on Legal Education. Bill has been extremely active in the Birmingham Bar Association, serving a term as president and seven terms on the Executive Committee. Other professional affiliations include the Alabama Defense Lawyers Association and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America. Bill received his B.A. from the University of Alabama and his LL.B. from the Birmingham School of Law. He was admitted to the Alabama Bar in 1966.
