William H. Boice

Bill Boice joined the firm as a litigation partner in June 1980. He served as chairman of the Litigation Practice Group from 1997 to 2001 and currently serves as the Team Leader of the Patent Litigation Team. Mr. Boice has substantial trial experience representing significant corporate clients in a wide variety of cases. His trial practice is focused on complex litigation including patent and trade secret litigation, class actions, business torts and other business litigation. Mr. Boice has tried cases in courts throughout the United States and has argued appeals in the United States Court of Appeals for the Second, Third, Fifth, Sixth, Ninth, Eleventh, and Federal Circuits, as well as The Georgia Court of Appeals and Supreme Court.

Selected Experience

· Lead defense counsel in multi-week patent infringement jury trial in the Eastern District of Virginia for major cable company. Obtained jury verdict of non-infringement of the six asserted patents and of invalidity of two of those patents.

· Lead counsel for plaintiff in multi-week trade secret jury trail in the Northern District of Georgia for major defense contractor. Obtained jury verdict in favor of plaintiff awarding substantial damages.

· Lead defense counsel in multi-party patent infringement jury trial in the District of South Carolina for substantial carpet tile manufacturer resulting in jury verdict finding plaintiff's patents invalid and not infringed.

· Lead defense counsel for traffic equipment manufacturer in obtaining jury verdict for defendants in multi-week trial involving alleged theft of trade secrets and breach of non-competition covenants.

· Lead counsel for several national banks in multiple party patent litigation pending in the Eastern District of Texas.

· Lead defense counsel for major athletic equipment manufacturer in patent infringement litigation in the Eastern District of Texas. Obtained favorable settlements after successful Markman argument.
