For more than twenty-five years, Bill Natbony has devoted his practice to the prosecution and defense of insurance and health care litigation as well as general commercial litigation matters, with particular emphasis and experience in the areas of financial and mortgage fraud, insurance law, no fault, business fraud, RICO, Medicaid/Medicare reimbursement, administrative agency rulemaking and employment disputes. In so doing, he has represented numerous insurance companies, re-insurers, banks, nursing homes, hospitals, physicians, physician management groups and provider associations. He has substantial experience litigating against state and municipal entities.
Bill's experience has included significant litigation challenging fraudulent no fault billing and the improper licensing and structure of health care providers. By way of example, Bill has represented major automobile carriers in significant no-fault civil recovery actions against numerous provider, management company and individual defendants. These litigations have already resulted in the waiver of substantial pending no-fault claims and the recovery of substantial funds for these insurer clients. He also represents groups of insurers seeking to recover substantial no-fault funds paid to a number of New York diagnostic imaging centers as a result of fraudulent billing activities, including the payment for case referrals in violation of New York law. Bill's practice also includes advising insurers concerning their investigatory and claim activities.
Bill's experience also includes representing financial institutions in litigation involving the buying/selling of mortgage loans and securities, the obligations/termination of mortgage loan servicers, and the interpretation and enforcement of complex commercial agreements, including SWAP agreements.
Bill is a 1980 cum laude graduate of Princeton University and obtained his law degree from Georgetown University Law Center in 1983. Prior to joining Cadwalader in 1984, Bill served as law clerk to Judge George Hart and Judge Charles R. Richey of the United States District Court for the District of Columbia.
