Wilson Elser's Houston office handles all facets of civil litigation, including general liability defense, product liability defense, professional liability defense and commercial litigation. Our attorneys are experienced in insurance coverage matters, as well as labor and employment law. We opened our Houston office in 1997, and since then have handled cases in venues throughout the state.

In the area of general liability, our attorneys are experienced in defending all types of personal injury claims, from premises security cases to bodily injury and death cases. The attorneys are assisted by a highly capable staff that is experienced in the review of medical records and other methods of case investigation and discovery.

With respect to product liability, attorneys in the Houston office defend manufacturers of industrial machinery and equipment, cranes and construction equipment, automotive components, as well as electronics and many other types of consumer items.

The Houston attorneys also defend clients in professional liability matters. This includes the defense of attorneys, doctors, insurance agents/brokers, securities brokers, real estate agents and other types of professionals against claims of malpractice and professional negligence in civil lawsuits and professional disciplinary proceedings.

In the area of commercial litigation, our attorneys have handled cases involving breach of contract, tortious interference and trade secrets violations. These cases, some with amounts in dispute in the multimillion-dollar range, have been heard before both juries and arbitration panels.

Our Houston office also has experience in the area of insurance coverage. Our practice includes reviewing and interpreting insurance policies, rendering coverage opinions and issuing coverage letters. We also have experience defending insurers in bad faith coverage litigation and representing insurers in settlement conferences and mediation.

Our labor and employment practice includes the defense of employers in cases brought under federal employment and anti-discrimination laws, such as the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Family and Medical Leave Act, and their state law counterparts. The Houston attorneys also have significant experience in employment and personnel issues, such as hiring and firing, harassment investigations, trade secrets protection, and preparation and application of employment policies.
