Wilson Elser opened an office in Stamford, Connecticut, in 2003 to better serve clients that had moved to the area, and new ones as well. While our office is relatively new to Connecticut, our attorneys have decades of experience in local and national litigation. We serve the legal needs of clients in the areas of trucking, commercial transportation, cargo, construction litigation, general liability, workers compensation, health care liability, employment liability, insurance and reinsurance disputes, insurance coverage and product liability.

In the area of commercial transportation, Wilson Elser's Connecticut office has national experience. The attorneys represent insurers, motor carrier owners and operators in liability matters involving personal injury, property damage, cargo loss and risk management. Our transportation team is called on for crisis management and to advise insurers in a wide variety of coverage-related issues in states throughout the country. We also act as a liaison to local and national regulatory agencies for our transportation clients.

We handle liability matters for hospitals and other health care institutions, as well as professional negligence cases for surgeons, cardiologists, emergency room doctors, dentists, psychotherapists, respiratory therapists and other medical personnel. Our Connecticut attorneys also defend manufacturers of items such as breast implants, contact lenses and pacemakers.

Our product liability team litigates lawsuits involving manufacturers, retailers and distributors of numerous products. We defend against design defect and failure-to-warn claims for motorcycles, recreational motor vehicles, helmets, home consumer products, industrial machinery and building equipment. Our attorneys have broad experience in mold, asbestos, vaccine, drug prescription and other mass tort matters. In these cases, our clients include many Fortune 500 companies.

Our employment practice team defends matters before the state Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities and at the Superior Court level. In addition, the team handles matters such as employee discipline and employee manual writing, as well as discrimination claims of all kinds.

Our workers' compensation team handles various issues involving the defense and risk management of workers' compensation claims and exposures throughout the state, for self-insured/captive companies and traditional insurers. We routinely counsel companies on policies and procedures to reduce work-related exposures and interface with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration and various other government agencies as we serve our clients in this practice area.
