Wilson Elser opened its office in New York City more than 25 years ago with attorneys who focused on insurance litigation. Today, this office is one of 21 firm-wide and is home to approximately 240 attorneys who are skilled in virtually every major practice area.

Our Manhattan office serves as the hub of a three-office, Metro-New York network staffed by attorneys with diverse backgrounds and skill. Together with the legal teams in our White Plains and Long Island offices, we offer counseling, litigation, arbitration and mediation, and other legal services. We represent Fortune 500 companies, including major insurers, and many other commercial, industrial, government and nonprofit entities.

The attorneys in our New York offices are leaders in the legal industry in their practice areas, including aviation, admiralty and marine, corporate, commercial, professional liability, insurance coverage, general liability, intellectual property, employment, product liability, real estate and construction. Our attorneys are legal insiders, having held positions in the New York City District Attorney's Office, New York State Insurance Department and U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Some of our attorneys have served as judges of the New York State Supreme Court and as members of the New York State Assembly.

The New York attorneys represent a broad range of insurance interests, domestically and internationally. We draft insurance and reinsurance agreements, defend claims and provide counsel on product development and new types of insurance.

Our attorneys are skilled in handling legal matters related to construction, a booming industry in New York City and elsewhere in the state. With the kinds of commercial expansion New York has seen, insurance liability issues also arise. We are knowledgeable in all areas of general liability, including issues pertaining to premises security and transportation.

In the area of professional liability, we handle matters involving physicians, hospitals and the entire spectrum of health care providers. We also defend claims of professional negligence against architects, accountants, attorneys, construction managers, oil and gas engineers, marine engineers and surveyors.

Our attorneys also have wide experience in product liability matters. We defend cases involving products ranging from heavy industrial equipment to medical devices, along with a host of automotive, agricultural, pharmaceutical, electronic and recreational goods.

With New York City a center of banking and finance, we have experience with various loan and credit agreements and transactions, facilities and equipment leases, sale and leaseback transactions, joint ventures and project financings. We also handle securities law matters, including public offerings and private placements, mergers and acquisitions.

Wilson Elser ranks among the leading law firms in the United States in size and breadth of experience. With extensive legal knowledge and a seasoned perspective, our attorneys are ready to meet any challenge that comes their way in Metro-New York.
