On September 18, 2012, the U.S. International Trade Commission issued a press release announcing their vote to institute an investigation of Certain Sintered Rare Earth Magnets, Methods of Making Same and Products Containing Same (Inv. No. 337-TA-855). The investigation is based on an August 17, 2012 complaint and a September 5, 2012 letter supplementing the complaint filed by Hitachi Metals, Ltd. of Japan and Hitachi Metals North Carolina, Ltd. of China Grove, North Carolina alleging violation of Section 337 in the importation into the U.S. and sale of certain sintered rare earth magnets, methods of making same and products containing same that infringe one or more claims of U.S. Patent Nos. 6,461,565, 6,491,765, 6,527,874, and 6,537,385.
