In Stoneridge, the SEC's recommendation was cast aside ¿ reportedly at the personal insistence of President George W. Bush ¿ in favor of a legal brief supporting the position of the defendants in the case. The current administration's rejection of the SEC's consistently held position, and its further
insistence on filing a brief asserting a directly contrary position, is a slap across the face of the American investor.
