On May 13, 2004, the Federal Circuit affirmed the decision of the Board of Patent Appeals and Interferences that upheld
the patent examiner's rejection, in reexamination, of several claims of U.S. Patent No. 4,714,989, which related to a computer
network, for anticipation under 35 U.S.C. ยง 102.
