The Higher Education Relief Opportunities for Students Act of 2003 (HEROES) safeguards the financial position of U.S. military reservists who are called to active duty. Certain provisions of HEROES also apply to individuals living or working in disaster areas or suffering economic hardship as a result of war or other national emergencies.
