Legal commentators and pundits are engaging in heated debate over the impact of the United States Supreme Court's recent decision in Kelo v. New London. Property rights groups and some legislators are rushing to push forward legislation seeking sweeping changes to ban the use of eminent domain for economic redevelopment. What those who are charging to the Wisconsin Legislature fail to understand is that Kelo is consistent with longstanding Wisconsin Statutes and case law.
