On Friday, February 13, Congress passed H.R. 1, The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (the "Act"). This legislation is an economic stimulus package estimated to cost $789 billion. Of this cost, approximately 35% is in the form of tax relief. Many of the tax provisions are intended to put money into taxpayers' hands or stimulate economic activity quickly.
