On February 27, 2009, CMS published an interim final rule with comment period extending the timeline for publication of a final rule concerning changes to Medicare claims appeal procedures (74 Fed. Reg. 8867).  The final rule will now be published by March 1, 2010.

On February 29, 2008, CMS published a continuation notice in the Federal Register (73 Fed. Reg. 11043) extending the timeline for publication of the final rule for one year until March 1, 2009.  CMS believes it needs more time to allow for full consideration of issues and policies raised in the regulation.
