Nursing "Super-Union" Hopes to "Send Chills down Employers' Backs |

While unionization in most industries has been on the decline, unions in the healthcare sector have for the last decade enjoyed significant victories and expansion of union membership. The Service Employees International Union (SEIU), long known as the janitors and service workers union, has so far been the most successful in re-branding itself to capture a significant portion of the healthcare segment. In doing so, it has encountered heated and often public disputes with rival "boutique" healthcare unions, most notably the California Nurses Association (CNA).
