U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is using new and aggressive strategies to increase its efforts to enforce immigration laws in the workplace. These efforts include criminally prosecuting employers, asking for additional funding for worksite enforcement actions, requesting access to Social Security Administration's "no-match" data, and proposing regulations that expand what constitutes an employer violation while limiting the safe harbor provisions for employers to verify an individual's legal status.
