On November 26, 2007, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services ("USCIS") placed a Notice in the Federal Register that it has issued a revised Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification. The revised form is now the only valid version of the form for employers to use to verify employee eligibility, although the Department of Homeland Security has stated its intention not to seek penalties against an employer for using the previous version of the form for 30 days (i.e., until December 26, 2007).
