Australian High Court Upholds Jurisdiction Over Dow Jones' Barron's Online by Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP

A recent decision from the High Court of Australia could drastically increase liability for Internet content. In Dow Jones v. Gutnick, the High Court held that Australian courts had jurisdiction over Dow Jones & Company Inc. (Dow Jones), an American company, for its alleged defamation of an Australian resident on the Internet.
