Jim has been an active member of the South Carolina Bar Association, where he served on the South Carolina Bar's Professional Responsibility Committee and the Ethics Committee, the Charleston County Bar Association, and the Greenville County Bar Association. He is admitted to all South Carolina State Courts, the United States District Court, District of South Carolina, the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Tax Court.

He is a member of Rotary International, the International Council of Shopping Centers, and is the President of the University of Texas' South Carolina Texas Exes alumni chapter.


Jim Blair practices in the areas of commercial transactions, including real estate development, real property transactions and lending/finance transactions. He also has experience in real estate and similar transactional litigation.

Jim represents a wide client base from Fortune 500 companies to local developers and individuals. His real estate practice focuses on real estate development, including acquisition and sale transactions, development agreements, commercial leasing, and agribusiness.

Jim's litigation practice is primarily limited to real property and transactional disputes where he has first chair trial experience in both state and federal courts involving complex matters such as shopping center development disputes, office building acquisition and leasing disputes, biofuels matters and mold issues.

Jim earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas and his law degree from the Syracuse University School of Law. He also received a Certificate in Theology from Dallas Theological Seminary.


Assisted purchaser with the purchase of a large multi-family housing complex in the City of Charleston, South Carolina.

Secured a broker's commission for a commercial real estate broker in a brokerage dispute relating to the commission.

Represented the buyer in a multi-million dollar purchase of 50 condominium units.

Assisted a client with issues involving Renewable Identification Numbers (RINs) and EPA Moderated Transaction System (EMTS) transactions.

Representation of an industrial landlord in the acquisition and lease negotiations of large industrial space with a multi-national tenant.

Representation of a commercial lender in an acquisition loan for a portion of a commercial/industrial park.

Jim and his wife recently celebrated their twenty-first wedding anniversary and have three children. Jim is active in church, enjoys playing tennis, coaching little league baseball and reading.

Jim has instructed numerous continuing legal education courses on a variety of real property, agribusiness and related topics.

Wrote an article for a Farm Credit Member Publication, Establishing and Protecting Rights under the Perishable Agricultural Commodities Act (Leader, Spring 2013).

Moderated and presented on the subject of the Farm Bill and related topics in conjunction with ArborOne, ACA.
