For some time now, employers with federal contracts have been preparing for being required to participate in the government's E-Verify program. Four times now, however, this program has been delayed, principally because of an ongoing lawsuit brought by the Chamber of Commerce and other groups who have expressed concern over the legality of the Bush Administration's Executive Order requiring that federal contractors use E-Verify to check the employment eligibility of their personnel. Finally, that Executive Order is moving forward, and many federal contractors are now required to enroll in the Federal E-Verify program.
