USCIS Extends TPS Protections for another Year |

Under a process which began in 2001 to assist the countries of El Salvador, Honduras and Nicaragua recover from natural disasters, DHS announced on Feb. 23, 2006 its decision to extend Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for an additional 12 months for nationals from these countries. USCIS will provide re-registration details and answers to FAQs upon publication of Notices in the Federal Register soon. In previous years, registrants have received an extension sticker which they could attach to their Employment Authorization Document (EAD).
