McCarthy Tétrault is not solely about legal service. We have a strong presence in our communities, with our lawyers occupying seats on Boards of Directors and volunteering. We also contribute to charities and undertake sponsorships: The Toronto office is a staunch supporter of the United Way Campaign and raises close to $500,000 annually with contributions from staff, associates, counsel and partners. Our articling students regularly raise money for charity through inventive campaigns within the firm. We have supported Olympic athletes during the past two winter Olympic Games. Our lawyers participate in Pro Bono Students Canada, as well as assist on pro bono projects in the Toronto community, including advocacy for unrepresented minor refugee claimants, advocacy on behalf of children (with respect to school placements and other educational issues) and advocacy for local community groups.

We contribute to the legal community as well. Our lawyers have a tradition of serving as Benchers of the Law Society of Upper Canada and in holding posts in the Ontario Bar Association and Canadian Bar Association. Several of our lawyers teach at Ontario law schools, thereby ensuring excellence in the future generation of lawyers.
