On July 2, 2008, the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) released proposed amendments to the Investment Advisers Act of 1940 (RIA Act) and the Investment Company Act of 1940 (IC Act) to reduce the reliance of investment managers on credit ratings of fixed income securities.
