On October 26, President Bush signed far-reaching anti-terrorism legislation into law. The Uniting and Strengthening America by Providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism Act of 2001 (USA PATRIOT Act) significantly expands the ability of law enforcement to conduct electronic surveillance, and this bulletin touches on the highlights of these provisions.
