NASHVILLE SCHOOL OF LAW 4013 ARMORY OAKS DRIVE NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE 37204 Telephone: (615) 256-3684 Fax: (615) 244-2383 Nashville
School of Law began in 1911 when four graduates of Vanderbilt Law School opened
night law classes at the Y.M.C.A. The mission, then and now, was to provide an
affordable legal education for working men and women who could not attend
school during the day. The school was incorporated under the laws of the State
of Tennessee on January 19, 1927 and is authorized to confer the degree of
Doctor of Jurisprudence. The school
is exclusively a night school offering high quality legal education at an affordable
tuition. A large percentage of the law students are employed full‑time in
fields such as business, trades, education and various professions. Nashville
School of Law students are trained to practice law in the state of Tennessee by
a faculty of working members of the legal community. Included in this faculty
are judges and practicing attorneys who are recognized as masters in their
chosen fields. Graduates of Nashville School of Law hold positions of
prominence throughout the state. The law
course spans a minimum of four years with classes held each Monday through
Thursday nights from 6:45 p.m. to 8:25 p.m. and 8:35 p.m. to 10:15 p.m. A
student must attend at least two nights each week in order to complete the
course of study in four years. Moot Courts I and II, under direction of an
instructor, are held for third and fourth year students on an additional
evening from 6:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Class
scheduling only allows students to enter in the fall. There are no quarter or
semester divisions. Entrance requirements include a bachelor's degree from an
accredited college or university, three letters of recommendation, a recent
exam score and other pertinent information from the Law School Data Assembly
Service. A proper application with an application fee must be submitted. The
application form and all the basic information about the Nashville School of
Law is found in the school bulletin, which may be obtained by calling 615‑256‑3684
