The winner of the martindale.com® Birthday Wish is Marc Becker, a partner at Goldfarb and Fleece, in New York. Here was Marc's wish:
"As an environmentalist, I think it would be a great idea for law firms to make a commitment to make efforts to reduce dependency on carbon fuels and make their firm more green friendly, i.e., double-sided paper, recycling, shutting lights, etc. There should be some form of certification that the firm has taken certain steps to make it more green and such certification should be listed in Martindale as something to be proud of."
We agree with Marc's concern for the environment and have committed to making our workplace at LexisNexis more environmentally-friendly. Some steps we have taken to be more green include setting our company printers to print in black and white by default instead of color, all paper that is discarded is recycled, and all printer toner cartridges are sent back to their manufacturers for recycling. We also encourage the use of mass transportation and our employees also participate annually in programs such as Nike's Reuse-a-Shoe.
