  • On April 30, 2002 the SEC announced its intention to adopt new regulations that would require enhanced disclosure of critical accounting estimates and the initial adoption of accounting policies. The proposed regulations would require companies to include a separately-captioned section regarding the application of critical accounting policies in the Management's Discussion and Analysis ("MD&A") section of annual reports, registration statements, and proxy and information statements.
