  • The "hard" market has resulted in unprecedented growth in the number of risk retention groups ("RRGs") over the past two years. RRG premium has increased from $944 million in 2001 to $1.725 billion in 2003. The number of active RRGs in 2001 was 72. Now over 130 RRGs are in operation.
