REAL ESTATE AND LAND USE

Blumenthal, Delavan, Powers & Palmer, P.A. has experience in all aspects of the acquisition, financing, zoning, development, management and sale of real property.

The firm represents the interests of real estate developers and individuals concerned with land ownership and development. The firm's real estate development clients include local, regional and national developers.

Lawyers in our real estate and land use areas have assisted clients with major developments such as shopping centers, office buildings, warehouses and industrial facilities, as well as condominium and residential projects and multi-use facilities.

The firm regularly provides representation for its clients in hearings and other proceedings before agencies and local legislative bodies concerned with licensing, zoning, planning, environmental matters and other land use issues. The firm also has experience in litigating a wide range of real estate conflicts, such as eminent domain matters and various types of contract disputes.

ENVIRONMENTAL LAW

In the area of environmental law, the firm provides counsel to corporations and individuals involved in Maryland and County critical area and bog regulations and variances thereto. The lawyers provide compliance counseling and assist clients in securing and amending necessary permits under all federal, state and county environmental statutes. They also guide clients in dealing with regulations promulgated by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the Maryland Department of the Environment, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Maryland Critical Area Commission, and by local environmental agencies. Virtually every type of environmental matter is within the experience of the firm. We also assist lenders, sellers and purchasers in analyzing potential environmental problems affecting properties involved in real estate transactions and business acquisitions.

The litigation component of this group is engaged in the defense of clients in enforcement actions and liability claims.

CIVIL LITIGATION

Blumenthal, Delavan, Powers & Palmer, P.A. is experienced in virtually every type of civil litigation with an emphasis on land use, regulatory and contractual. The firm represents clients in state and federal trial and appellate courts as well as before administrative bodies and in arbitration proceedings.

Members of the group have developed specific expertise in particular areas of the law in order to serve the specialized needs of our clients. Our litigation lawyers work with other members of the firm in the commercial, corporate, environmental and land use sections to represent clients' interests in general corporate and business matters and litigation, including condemnation by all regulatory agencies.

GOVERNMENT RELATIONS

The firm is involved in the advocacy and lobbying of clients' positions in local, state and federal governmental bodies. This service includes not only the representation of clients' interests in the General Assembly of the State of Maryland but also in departments, administrative agencies, boards and commissions at the state, county and city level.

ESTATE PLANNING AND PROBATE

Our lawyers provide tax advice of particular interest to individuals. Much of our work is related to income, estate and gift tax planning. Our services include not only the planning, but the execution of those plans through the preparation of trust agreements, wills and other documents to provide savings in gift, income and estate taxes.
