While attending Furman University, Ms. Coia was one of the founding members and publicity chair of the campus’s Relay for Life, a community fundraising event to raise awareness about all forms of cancer. She was also a member of the Richard Riley Institute Advance Team, which was instrumental in bringing well-known speakers to campus, including Madeline Albright and Marian Wright Edelman.
During law school, Ms. Coia served as a member of the editorial board and later as the Associate Editor in Chief of the South Carolina Law Review . After graduating from law school and before entering private practice, Ms. Coia was a law clerk to the Honorable W. Leon Barfield, Magistrate Judge for the Southern District of Georgia. Erin is married and has two children.
