Michael M. Petrov



Michael Petrov advises electric utilities on a wide range of energy-related legal matters, including financial transactions, project development, mergers and acquisitions, power purchase agreements and construction contracts. He also counsels energy clients on a host of regulatory and securities law compliance.

Before joining Eversheds Sutherland, Michael worked as a legal extern for an in-house counsel at a Fortune 500 company. His previous experience includes serving as a legal extern in the Federal Public Defender’s office for the Middle District of North Carolina. He also participated in the 2016 Eversheds Sutherland Summer Associate program.

Selected Experience

Served as counsel to Georgia Transmission Corporation in the remarketing of more than $94 million in bonds (GTC Vogtle Project).
Served as underwriters' counsel to Goldman Sachs, J.P. Morgan and Bank of America Merrill Lynch in the offering and issuance of more than $113 million in bonds (Seminole Electric Cooperative Inc. Project).
Represented Oglethorpe Power Corporation in the offer and sale of $500 million first mortgage bonds.
