A former defense lawyer, Matt Breeland spent the first part of his career working for major insurance companies. In that role, he gained a unique and highly valuable perspective on the litigation tactics employed against injury victims. Matt is proud and excited to bring his experience to FVF Law and to help injury victims fight back. Since joining the firm in 2016, he has obtained millions of dollars on behalf of his clients.
Matt was named in Texas Monthly Magazine as a Super Lawyers® Rising Star in 2017. Only 2.5% of lawyers under 40 receive this prestigious recognition, which is based on a multi-phase selection process that includes independent research, peer nominations and peer evaluations. Matt’s compassionate and zealous representation also earned him the AVVO “Client’s Choice Award” for 2015. For his volunteer legal work, he received a Judge Suzanne Covington Pro Bono Service Award in 2011.
Matt is married to Austin Realtor Leslie Breeland, who is also a licensed attorney. Matt and Leslie met in law school and now have two young children, a boy and a girl, who do their part to keep Austin weird and fun. Matt’s interests include cooking for his friends and family, wearing burnt orange at UT home games, and trying to stay in shape. He successfully completed the 2015 Austin Marathon without stopping or walking (just don’t ask him how long it took him). He is also a movie buff who served as a film screener for the 2011 SXSW Film Festival.
