Educational History (1977-1980)

Mr. Curtis graduated from the University of Southern California cum laude with a bachelor’s in International Relations, establishing his proficiency for understanding complex conflict and resolving it effectively. He then pursued his Juris Doctorate at Loyola Law School. During his time there, he externed for the California Supreme Court, gaining invaluable experience.

Early Legal Career (1980-1991)

Upon graduation, he became an attorney-advocate in the Office of Legal Policy in the United States Department of Justice. As a member of the highest law department in the nation, he sharpened and grew his legal understanding through the study of policy and its application in everyday life. He gained firsthand knowledge about the power of the law to affect individuals.

From here, he moved back to California to become a deputy district attorney for the county of Riverside. While here, he conducted jury trials and juvenile court trials, increasing his skill in both courtroom litigation and understanding for the needs of minors. It was while he was here that he decided that family law would become his chief area of practice.

Private Practice (1991-2013)

Combining his skills in the courtroom, his understanding of policy and its effect on everyday people, and his keen insight into the law, Attorney Curtis established his own practice in 1991. The practice focused on family law, civil litigation, and criminal defense, serving the residents of Long Beach for over two decades with quality legal representation.
