Matthew D. Braukmann: Attorney with Odegaard Braukmann Law, PLLC

Matt Braukmann is a litigation and trial attorney at, and one of the founding members of, Odegaard Braukmann Law, PLLC. Matt's practice focuses on representing people who have been injured, whether physically, financially, or emotionally, and are in need of help. Worker's compensation, personal injury, and employment discrimination claims take up the majority of Matt's practice.

Matt approaches each of his clients' cases with a singular approach: to do what is in the best interests of the client. Matt intentionally keeps his caseload low so each client is afforded a high level of compassionate, direct, and personalized attention, that every injured person deserves.

Matt was born in Banks, Oregon, a small logging community about 45 minutes from the Pacific Ocean in northwest Oregon. The youngest of four children, Matt was the first in his family to attend college, graduating with honors from Portland State University, with a degree in Administration of Justice. After receiving his undergraduate degree, Matt worked for a large Portland, Oregon, defense law firm for several years, to help him decide whether law school was the right choice. Despite the attempts of nearly every attorney at the Portland firm to dissuade Matt from attending law school, Matt enrolled at the University of Oregon (GO DUCKS!) During his first year at Oregon, Matt attained grades that placed him in the top 10% of his class.

The beauty and expansiveness of Montana had been bred in Matt's blood at a young age, so, after completing his first year of law school, Matt transferred to the University of Montana, where he graduated in 2005. During law school, Matt worked at the Oregon Department of Justice, the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, and at Moulton Bellingham, P.C., a large defense firm in Billings, Montana. Matt is often asked why he moved to Montana from Oregon. The answer is always the same: Norman Maclean and Brad Pitt. "A River Runs Through It" and "Legends of Fall" bred a love of Montana that has never left.

Matt began his career as a practicing attorney at Moulton Bellingham PC. At Moulton Bellingham, Matt gained valuable trial experience representing corporations, employers, and insurers in a wide variety of personal injury and employment claims. After practicing at Moulton Bellingham for 6 years, Matt worked as General Counsel and Vice President of a local group of companies, where he focused on commercial litigation and employment matters. Knowing that his place was in representing the people, not the powerful, Matt formed Braukmann Law Firm, PLLC, in April 2012. Shortly thereafter, Matt found an excellent personal injury and worker's compensation trial attorney who shared the same beliefs as he when it comes to the practice of law, Paul Odegaard. Paul and Matt thereafter formed Odegaard Braukmann Law, PLLC, in January 2014. Matt has two beautiful daughters, Izzy (almost 4) and Jamison (8), as well as a new flat-coated retriever puppy, Bodhi. In his free time, Matt and his family enjoy spending time in Montana’s outdoors hunting, fishing, kayaking, camping, and hiking. In addition to his love of music and movies, Matt is also an avid golfer and flyfisherman.
