  • Nanotechnology and the future are here. The United States government has started the National Nanotechnology Initiative and is spending nearly $1 billion in the research and development of nanotechnology. Additionally, Japan, China, South Korea and many Euopean countries have joined the research and development so that worldwide funding of nanotechnology is approximately $2 billion. Current applications of nanotechnology include burn and wound dressings, catalytic converters and longer lasting tennis balls. The intersection of nanotechnology, product development and manufacture offers unique opportunities but also presents regulatory compliance challenges.
